Legendary Watergate reporter and author Bob Woodward openly chuckled when asked by CNN’s Boris Sanchez if he thought President-elect Donald Trump had a “cohesive strategy” when it came to his controversial Cabinet picks.
“Do you think there’s a cohesive strategy behind these picks?” Sanchez asked Woodward.
Woodward just laughed.
Sanchez expanded on the question, saying, “I asked because some president-elects go in thinking they want to create a team of rivals. Trump the last time around was seeking advice from outside people. He had unorthodox choices during his first administration. Some of them seemed to pan out. Is there a strategy here?”
Woodward replied with a question: “Well, a cohesive strategy from Donald Trump?”
“In doing three books on him and lots of reporting, no!” he then answered himself.
“That’s not the way he operates,” Woodward added. “He wants to do it his way. So, if he can find a way to put his finger in the eye of the establishment again, I think he’s likely to do it.”
Woodward had earlier warned that Trump is currently “overreaching, dangerously for him and for the country” with his controversial choices to lead government departments.
